A hydraulic breaker is used for demolishing concrete structures or rocks. It is used to complete a construction job. Also known as jack hammer, the hydraulic breaker is actually a hammer or a machine attached to an excavator to do the demolishing taks.
Breakers can be hydraulic type and the pneumatic type. The most popular one is the one attached to an excavator and powered by an auxiliary hydraulic system. This hydraulic breaker is fitted with a foot-operated valve. Such kind of machines are used in areas where blasting is not possible due to safety or environmental issues.
Hydraulic Breaker/Hydraulic Hammer Uses
The hydraulic breaker is similar to the mechanical excavator, which is used in drilling hard surfaces and also in road construction purposes. The hammer can be used for a wide range of tasks like as for demolition purposes, for construction, and for quarrying. They are widely demanded in the mining industry for mining purpose. While the hand operated breakers are usually pneumatic type, the hydraulic hammers are much larger than the portable ones and used for carrying out large construction jobs. They are used on construction machinery. They are used to breakup rock, pavement, and concrete.
Hydraulic Breaker Functioning
The hydraulic breaker is powered by a
hydraulic motor. The motor would be the one which would push the drill to the hard surface. The fast and quick speed of the driller would be responsible for the increase in movement of the whole breaker. For safety considerations of the worker, hydraulic breakers have an anti shock system, which is capable in reducing the impact on the arms and the legs of the worker while at the same time having the ability to move the drill and the hammer.
