Hydraulic gear motors are essential component attached to the motor of a hydraulic equipment. All types of
hydraulic motors have certain design features common to them. These are
- A driving surface area which is subject to difference in pressure.
- To achieve a continuous rotation, there is an instrument of timing the transfer of pressure fluid to the pressure surface.
- Lastly, there is a mechanical connection between the surface area and an output shaft.
The main purpose of hydraulic motor is to generate force and power to the hydraulic equipment to start or end the mechanism and the hydraulic gear motors are the most widely used motor here.
Purpose of Hydraulic Gear Motors
The main reasons for the use of hydraulic gear motors are as follows:
- The ability of the pressure surfaces to bear force.
- To check out the leakage characteristics for motor of each type.
- Hydraulic motor gears link the pressure surface and the output shaft etc.
Why are Hydraulic Gear Motors Used?
Hydraulic gear motors are used to get the maximum efficiency in terms of flow, pressure, torque output, speed, service life, physical configuration, including volumetric and mechanical efficiencies.
Types of Hydraulic Gear motors
- Internal Gear Motor: The inner gear has one less tooth than the outer. The shape of the teeth is such that all teeth of the inner gear are in contact with some portion of the outer gear at all times.
- External Gear Motor: External gear motor consists of a pair of matched gears enclosed in one housing. Both gears have the same tooth form and are driven by pressure fluid. One gear is connected to an output shaft.
How Hydraulic Gear Motor Works?
When pressure fluid is introduced into the motor, both gears rotate. As the pair of inner and outer gears continues to rotate, the
hydraulic oil is put into force. The oil is transported from the inner outlet to the outer outlet, thereby exerting force on the equipment and the equipment starts working.
Hydraulic Gear Motor Popular Series
- PM Series
- TM Series
- QM Series
These varied series of hydraulic gear motors have the body, flange and cover made of metal alloy, with steel gears. Equipped with the hydraulic balancing of axial clearance, these type of gear motors have offered low noise and high efficiency within the whole range of speed and temperature. They are being manufactured in unidirectional design as clockwise or anticlockwise motors. The hydraulic series gear motors are being manufactured in a wide range of drives, connecting flanges and fluid inputs and outputs.
Advantages of Hydraulic Gear Motors
- Suitable for high speeds
- Bi-direction Rotation
- Very low hydraulic and mechanical losses
- Can carry high external radial loads
- Low noise levels
- Cost-savings in system design, assembly and maintenance
