Designed
for reliability and long life, the high-efficiency hydraulic gear pumps
provide high-speed positioning and maximum working pressure. The gear
pumps may have integral adjustable unloading valve in single or multiple
configurations. They are high performance pumps with a long pump life,
low noise level and compact size with pressure compensator, load sensing
and torque limiting controls.
Types of Hydraulic Gear Pumps
The basic gear pump consists of two meshed gears, a case or housing to
encompass the gears, and two cover plates that enclose the ends of the
gears. Each gear is mounted on a shaft supported on bearings in the end
covers. Out of these, the drive shaft is coupled to the prime mover or
the drive motor.
There are two types of hydraulic gear pumps:
- External gear pumps:External gear pumps have two spur gears that are located on the exterior.
- Internal gear pumps: Internal gear pumps also have two spur gears. While one is inside, the other is located on the exterior.
Both types of gear pumps supply a regular quantity of fluid for every rotation of the gears.
Uses and Applications of Hydraulic Gear Pumps
Hydraulic gear pumps are used in a wide variety of machines, for
example agricultural and construction vehicles to provide flexible power
from the engine to lifting gear or ancillary equipment. Standard options
allow the specifier to custom design a complete system and reduce
component cost and assembly time.
They are used to displace fluid in liquid transfer applications. They supply hydraulic power to different mechanisms. Hydraulic gear pumps can pump viscous fluids, like grease, without any difficulty from increased friction.
Nowdays in most industrial appplications, eletric motors are replaced by hydraulic gear pumps. They provide constinuous syppply of power and take up less space. They are used in various industries like the agricultural, automotive, construction, military, and manufacturing industries.
