Hydraulic truck cranes are useful heavy equipment which can be found on construction sites around the world. Hydraulic
truck crane is used to lift extremely heavy loads using the simple
concept of hydraulics, that is, transmitting forces from point to point through a fluid. A
hydraulic truck crane has powerful lifting capacity. In hydraulic truck crane, high stability is attained through large counterweight that requires no additional
clearance. The functional designs make these truck cranes very tough and
can stand up to everyday use.
How Does A Hydraulic Truck Crane Works?
The hydraulic crane operates using the hydraulic concept when a liquid is passed from one end to another and generates power. A force is exerted through a fluid. Most hydraulic machines use a kind of incompressible fluid which has a maximum density.
Oil is the most commonly used incompressible fluid for hydraulic truck cranes. In a simple hydraulic truck crane, there is a piston which pushes down
on the oil, which transmits all of the force to another piston, which drives up. It is the hydraulic pump that creates the pressure that moves the pistons. Most hydraulic truck cranes use two-gear pumps. These pumps have a pair of inter-meshing gears to
put pressure on the hydraulic oil. When pressure needs to increase, the operator pushes the foot
throttle so that the pump runs faster. In a gear pump, the only way to get high pressure is to run the engine at full power.
Uses of Hydraulic Truck Cranes
Hydraulic truck cranes are simple by design but can perform miraculous
tasks that are otherwise impossible to perform. Within minutes, these
machines raise multi-ton bridge beams on highways, heavy equipment in
factories and even lift beach- front houses onto pilings. Hydraulic
truck cranes are also used to lift killer whales out of water tanks
while shifting them to new destinations.
A hydraulic truck crane, when in action moves unbelievable weight of
multi-ton objects with quite ease. There are various models of hydraulic
truck cranes that vary in lifting power.
